A. Before the 2025-2026 school year, the department of education shall compile and make available on the department's website both of the following:
1. Information on the role of water safety education courses and swimming lessons in saving lives.
2. A list of local providers of water safety courses or swimming lessons, or both, that result in certification, including providers that offer water safety courses or swimming lessons, or both, for free or at a reduced price.
B. Beginning in the 2025-2026 school year, each school district and charter school shall provide to each parent who initially enrolls a child in the school district or charter school the webpage address for the information compiled by the department of education pursuant to subsection A of this section.
C. For the purposes of this section, "water safety course" means age-appropriate education that is intended to promote safety in, on and around bodies of water and to reduce the risk of injury or drowning.
