Born in Holbrook and raised in Heber, Arizona, Senator Chester Crandell is a fifth generation native of rural Arizona and Legislative District 6.

He has worked in the education field for 30 years. The last 10 years he was the Superintendent of the Northern Arizona Vocational Institute of Technology (N.A.V.I.T.) where he created the partnership with Northland Pioneer College to provide educational services to N.A.V.I.T.

Senator Crandell is a graduate of University of Arizona, with a degree in Agriculture Education and a graduate of Northern Arizona University, with a degree in Masters of Education Leadership.

He serves on the following Senate Standing Committees: Appropriations, Government and Environment, Natural Resources and Rural Affairs, Education (Vice Chairman), and Public Safety (Chairman). He also serves as Chairman of the Joint Legislative Audit Committee and as a member of the Joint Legislative Ad Hoc Study Committee on Government and Private Lands.

Senator Crandell resides with Alice, his wife of 46 years, in Heber. They have 9 children and 36 grandchildren.
