Justin Wilmeth has represented Legislative District 2 since 2021. Covering North Phoenix, LD2 stretches from Moon Valley to Deer Valley Airport to Norterra, roughly between Interstate 17 and State Route 51.

Since taking office, Wilmeth has focused on economic development, artificial intelligence, international trade and pragmatic, common-sense solutions that strengthen Arizona’s economy and improve government efficiency. His legislative record reflects a consistent focus on delivering practical, results-oriented solutions for Arizona, successfully advancing a wide range of initiatives into law. His legislative accomplishments include modernizing gym membership cancellation laws; banning state contractors from utilizing Uyghur forced labor; protecting tipped employee earning potential; creating the Arizona Space Commission; establishing Tourism Improvement Areas to strengthen Arizona’s visitor economy; and expanding computer science opportunities for Arizona students through new education initiatives. And, yes, he made Pluto Arizona’s state planet.

In 2026, Wilmeth was appointed Chairman of the brand-new House Artificial Intelligence & Innovation Committee. His committee focuses on emerging technologies, responsible AI policy, cybersecurity and fostering innovation while maintaining Arizona’s reputation as one of the nation’s premier destinations for business investment. Previously, he served two years as Chairman of the House Commerce Committee, advancing pro-commerce, free-market legislation aimed at making Arizona’s business climate even stronger.

A leading advocate for international economic development, Wilmeth has helped establish Arizona Trade and Investment Offices in Frankfurt, Germany; Taipei, Taiwan; Seoul, South Korea; Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, Canada; and Japan, strengthening the state’s economic partnerships around the world.

Wilmeth, 47, is a three-time graduate of Arizona State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, a Master of Public Administration and a Master of Arts in Global Security. Outside the Legislature, he enjoys reading history and international affairs, traveling, exploring Arizona by road, and watching as much baseball as possible.
