Arizona State Senate President Warren Petersen has served in the Arizona Legislature since 2012, first elected to the Arizona House of Representatives before joining the State Senate.
He currently represents Legislative District 14, which includes Gilbert and parts of Queen Creek. President Petersen is now in his fourth year of serving as President of the Arizona Senate.
Throughout his legislative career, President Petersen has been a leading advocate for limited government, fiscal responsibility, reduced regulation, and policies that strengthen Arizona's economy while protecting individual liberty. As Senate
President, he has focused on defending state laws, ensuring fairness and accountability in government, safeguarding public safety, and preserving Arizona's constitutional freedoms.
President Petersen is a licensed attorney and passed the Arizona Bar in 2020. In his role as Senate President, he has overseen Senate involvement in more than 100 legal cases, including matters involving constitutional questions, separation of
powers, and the defense of Arizona law when other state officials declined to act.
His leadership roles have included House Majority Leader, Senate Commerce Committee Chair, Senate Judiciary Committee Chair, Senate Rules Chair, and service on the Senate Ethics Committee. He has been widely recognized for his work on tax policy,
regulatory reform, small business advocacy, and protecting fundamental rights.
A third-generation Gilbert resident, President Petersen is a graduate of Gilbert High School. He earned his bachelor's degree from Arizona State University, and his Juris Doctor degree from ASU Law. He has worked in the real estate industry for
more than two decades, primarily in new home construction, and his family owns a real estate brokerage.
When not serving at the Legislature or running his business, President Petersen enjoys spending time with his family and his wife, Denisse, and remains actively engaged in his community.
