ARIZONA STATE SENATE

appropriation; transportation construction projects; I-10
Purpose
Appropriates $5,000,000 from the state General Fund (state GF) in FY 2022 to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) to distribute to the Town of Marana for transportation projects.
Background
ADOT is responsible for the design and construction of state public transportation systems and the maintenance and operation of state highways in Arizona (A.R.S. § 28-332). ADOT is permitted to contract and do all things necessary to secure the full benefits available to Arizona for transportation purposes under federal law which includes cooperation with: 1) federal, state and local government agencies; 2) Indian tribes; 3) private and public organizations; and 4) private individuals. ADOT is also permitted to exchange federal monies with local governments in order to receive local monies and is allowed to include additional federal monies in the exchange to offset the matching costs required of local governments (A.R.S. § 28-334).
The Town of Marana is
located in Pima County and extends along the Interstate 10
(I-10) from mile markers 232 to 251 (ADOT
Maps).
S.B. 1405 appropriates $5,000,000 from the state GF in FY 2022 to ADOT to distribute to the Town of Marana.
Provisions
1. Appropriates $5,000,000 from the state GF in FY 2022 to ADOT to distribute to the Town of Marana for transportation construction projects in the vicinity of the I-10.
2. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
