(TEXT OF BILL BEGINS ON NEXT PAGE)

To the Chairperson of the State Board on Geographic and Historic Names:

Your memorialist respectfully represents:

Whereas, Lester "Letch" F. Quinn was a proud Arizonan and dedicated public servant of this state who left a lasting legacy in the Globe-Miami area; and

Whereas, Lester F. Quinn dedicated many years of his life and career to public service, serving as a Gila County Supervisor seven times, a Gila County Undersheriff and a Arizona State Highway Commissioner; and

Whereas, outside of his many years of service to his community, he also owned several businesses, including the Texaco station in Miami and the former Busy Boy in Globe near the edge of town; and

Whereas, in his many capacities in public service, Lester F. Quinn's most significant contribution to the people of this state was his role in the development and maintenance of State Route 77; and

Whereas, through Lester F. Quinn's efforts, the stretch of highway between Globe and Winkelman, mileposts 170.93 to 135, was upgraded and brought into the state highway system and is an improvement that continues to serve the community to this day; and

Whereas, the legislature recognizes the significant contributions and impacts on his community and this state by Lester F. Quinn and the legacy he left behind.

Wherefore, your memorialist, the Senate of the State of Arizona, the House of Representatives concurring, prays:

1. That the State Board on Geographic and Historic Names rename the portion of State Route 77 between mileposts 170.93 and 135 as the "L.F. Quinn Memorial Highway".

2. That the Secretary of State transmit a copy of this Memorial to the Chairperson of the State Board on Geographic and Historic Names.
