A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

 

enacting and ordering the submission to the people of a measure relating to the classification of students for tuition purposes.

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of Arizona, the Senate concurring:

1. Under the power of the referendum, as vested in the Legislature, the following measure, relating to the classification of students for tuition purposes, is enacted to become valid as a law if approved by the voters and on proclamation of the Governor:

AN ACT

amending title 15, chapter 14, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 15-1803.01; relating to the classification of students for tuition purposes.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1. Title 15, chapter 14, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 15-1803.01, to read:

START_STATUTE15-1803.01. Tuition rates; citizens; definition

A. Notwithstanding any other law, a university under the jurisdiction of the Arizona board of regents or a community college as defined in section 15-1401 may not charge any individual who is a citizen of the United States a tuition rate that is greater than the tuition rate that the university or community college charges any student who is not a citizen of the United States.

B. For the purposes of this section, "tuition" means tuition and mandatory fees charged by a university under the jurisdiction of the Arizona board of regents or a community college as defined in section 15-1401. END_STATUTE

2. The Secretary of State shall submit this proposition to the voters at the next general election as provided by article IV, part 1, section 1, Constitution of Arizona.
