ARIZONA STATE SENATE

L.F. Quinn memorial highway
Purpose
Urges the Arizona State Board on Geographic and Historic Names (ASBGHN) to rename a portion of State Route (SR) 77 as the L.F. Quinn Memorial Highway.
Background
The ASBGHN is responsible for receiving and evaluating all proposals to: 1) change or add to names of geographic features or places of historical significance; and 2) establish or designate a highway or area as a parkway, historic road or scenic road that is of geographic or historical significance. After evaluating a proposal, the ASBGHN must designate the most appropriate name and spelling for the geographic feature, historical place or outlined area or highway for use in maps and other official governmental documents (A.R.S. § 41-835.03).
There is no anticipated fiscal impact to the state General Fund associated with this legislation.
Provisions
1. Urges the ASBGHN to rename the portion of SR 77 between mileposts 170.93 and 135 as the L.F. Quinn Memorial Highway.
2. Directs the Secretary of State to transmit a copy of this memorial to the Chair of the ASBGHN.
