ARIZONA STATE SENATE

AMENDED
Donald J. Trump highway
Purpose
Urges the Arizona State Board on Geographic and Historic Names (ASBGHN) to rename State Route (SR) 260 as the Donald J. Trump Highway.
Background
The ASBGHN is responsible for receiving and evaluating all proposals to: 1) change or add to names of geographic features or places of historical significance; and 2) establish or designate a highway or area as a parkway, historic road or scenic road that is of geographic or historical significance. After evaluating a proposal, the ASBGHN must designate the most appropriate name and spelling for the geographic feature, historical place or outlined area or highway for use in maps and other official governmental documents (A.R.S. § 41-835.03).
Originally known as the General Crook Trail, SR 260 is 193 miles long, stretching from Cottonwood to Eager, Arizona (ADOT).
There is no anticipated fiscal impact to the state General Fund associated with this legislation.
Provisions
1. Urges the ASBGHN to designate SR 260 as the Donald J. Trump Highway and approve, place and maintain appropriate signage identifying the designated highway.
2. Directs the Secretary of State to transmit a copy of this memorial to the Chair of ASBGHN.
Amendments Adopted by Committee
1. Replaces the Arizona Department of Transportation with the ASBGHN.
2. Makes conforming changes.
