ARIZONA STATE SENATE

livestock compensation fund; appropriation
Purpose
Appropriates $250,000 from the state General Fund (state GF) in FY 2027 to the Livestock Compensation Fund (Fund).
Background
The Fund
consists of: 1) federal monies; 2) legislative appropriations from the state
GF;
3) public and private grants; and 4) private donations. The Fund is
administered by the Arizona Livestock Loss Board (Board) for the purpose of
compensating landowners, lessees and livestock operators for: 1) wolf
depredation on livestock; 2) participating in a pay-for-presence program
implemented by the Board; or 3) implementing avoidance measures to prevent wolf
depredation on livestock. Monies in the Fund are continuously appropriated and
are exempt from lapsing (A.R.S.
§ 17-493).
The Board must submit an annual report by December 31 to the Governor, the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives and provide a copy of the report to the Secretary of State. The report must contain the number of applications for compensation, the total amount of monies provided to landowners, lessees and livestock operators that year and any recommendations (A.R.S. § 17-491).
H.B. 2156 appropriates $250,000 from the state GF in FY 2027 to the Fund.
Provisions
1. Appropriates $250,000 from the state GF in FY 2027 to the Fund.
2. Becomes effective date on the general effective date.
