unfair claims settlement practices; chiropractic
Purpose
Expands the scope of practice of a chiropractor to include referrals for diagnostic imaging.
Background
Chiropractors are licensed by the State Board of Chiropractic Examiners to provide permissible health care services and are considered portal of entry health care providers. Statute allows a licensed chiropractor to provide physical and clinical examinations, diagnostic x-rays and limited clinical laboratory procedures to determine a regimen of chiropractic care or to refer patients to other licensed health care professionals (A.R.S. § 32-925).
There is no anticipated fiscal impact to the state General Fund associated with this legislation.
Provisions
1. Expands the scope of practice of a chiropractor to include referrals for diagnostic imaging.
2. Makes technical changes.
3. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
