ARIZONA STATE SENATE

Purpose
Appropriates $5,500,000 from the state General Fund (state GF) in FY 2027 to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) to design and conduct an environmental analysis of interchange improvements at U.S. 60 and State Route 303.
Background
ADOT is tasked with providing an integrated balanced state transportation system and has exclusive control and jurisdiction over all: 1) state highways; 2) state roads; 3) state-owned airports; and 4) state-owned transportation systems or modes. ADOT is responsible for the design and construction of transportation facilities in accordance with a priority plan and to maintain and operate all state-owned highways, airports and public transportation systems (A.R.S. §§ 28-331 and 28-332).
In 2022, ADOT completed a feasibility study to assess the U.S. 60 and State Route 303 interchange. The study evaluated several near-term and long-term projects to improve traffic flow with cost estimates for the improvement (ADOT).
S.B. 1204 appropriates $5,500,000 from the state GF in FY 2027 to ADOT.
Provisions
1. Appropriates $5,500,000 from the state GF in FY 2027 to ADOT to design and conduct an environmental analysis of interchange improvements at U.S. 60 and State Route 303.
2. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
