appropriation; lapsing exemption; Yuma county
Purpose
Exempts the $750,000 appropriation included in the FY 2026 General Appropriations Act to the Department of Public Safety (DPS) for the Yuma County Family Advocacy Center from lapsing.
Background
Laws 2025, Chapter 233 appropriated $750,000 to DPS for the Yuma County Family Advocacy Center. The $750,000 appropriation must be allocated to an advocacy center in Yuma County that has provided support for domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and elderly abuse for at least 25 years. The funding was intended to backfill federal funding cuts to the federal Victims of Crime Act of 1984.
There is no anticipated fiscal impact to the state General Fund associated with this legislation.
Provisions
1. Exempts the FY 2026 $750,000 appropriation to DPS for the Yuma County Family Advocacy Center from lapsing.
2. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
