ARIZONA STATE SENATE

appropriation; State Route 64; study
Purpose
Appropriates $500,000 from the state General Fund (state GF) in FY 2027 to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) to conduct a traffic and safety study on State Route 64 from the City of Williams (Williams) to the Grand Canyon.
Background
ADOT is tasked with providing an integrated balanced state transportation system and has exclusive control and jurisdiction over all: 1) state highways; 2) state roads; 3) state-owned airports; and 4) state-owned transportation systems or modes. ADOT is responsible for the design and construction of transportation facilities in accordance with a priority plan and to maintain and operate all state-owned highways, airports and public transportation systems (A.R.S. §§ 28-331 and 28-332).
S.B. 1154 appropriates $500,000 from the state GF in FY 2027 to ADOT.
Provisions
1. Appropriates $500,000 from the state GF in FY 2027 to ADOT to conduct a traffic and safety study on State Route 64 from Williams to the Grand Canyon.
2. Requires ADOT, by December 31, 2026, to submit a report and any recommendations for traffic and safety improvements along State Route 64 to the Governor, President of the Senate and Speaker of the House of Representatives.
3. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
