Committee on Science & Technology

Overview

Makes changes to the Arizona Space Commission (ASC) Board of Directors (Board).

History

The ASC was created in 1991 to serve as Arizona's coordinator of all space-related commercial and technological partnerships and provide expertise to government entities on the development of the space-related industry in Arizona. In 2001, ASC was continued for 10 years but terminated on July 1, 2011 (Laws 2001, Chapter 29).

In 2024, the ASC was reestablished in the Fifty-sixth Legislature, Second Regular Session. The ASC is required to develop strategic plans to promote and expand space aeronautics. ASC must submit the strategic plan to the Governor, President of the Senate and Speaker of the House of Representatives on every even numbered year (A.R.S. § 41- 1551.01).
