Overview

Appropriates $50,000 from the General Fund (GF) in FY 2027 to the Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) to monitor uranium contamination. Directs ADEQ to establish a statewide registry and monitoring program for potential uranium contamination and partner with tribal epidemiology centers for implementation.

History

ADEQ is responsible for managing state and federal programs related to air, water and land pollution. ADEQ is responsible for administering state environmental laws and shares regulatory responsibility for certain federal programs that have been delegated to the State by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)(ADEQ).

Provisions

1.   Appropriates $50,000 from the GF in FY 2027 to ADEQ to monitor uranium contamination. (Sec. 1)

2.   Directs ADEQ to use the monies to fund soil, water and home testing for potential uranium contamination. (Sec. 1)

3.   Mandates ADEQ establish a statewide registry and monitoring program for potential uranium contamination and partner with tribal epidemiology centers for the implementation of the program. (Sec. 1)
