Sponsor: Representative Bliss, LD 1
Committee on Land, Agriculture & Rural Affairs
Overview
Appropriates $750,000 from the state General Fund (GF) in FY 2027 to the Arizona State Parks Board (ASPB) for the development of a state park at Del Rio Springs.
History
ASPB is a seven-member board composed of the State Land Commissioner and six members appointed by the Governor. ASPB exists to select, acquire, preserve, establish and maintain areas of natural features, scenic beauty, historical and scientific interest, zoos and botanical gardens for the education, pleasure, recreation and health of the people (A.R.S. §§ 41-511, 41-511.03).
In FY 2024, $7 million was appropriated from the state GF and distributed to ASPB for the purpose of establishing a new state park at the headwaters of the Verde River. The proposed park would be located on a land parcel known as Del Rio Springs Ranch, five miles north of Chino Valley, adjacent to the Upper Verde River Wildlife Area and Prescott National Forest (JLBC).
