Overview

Allows a passenger in a motor vehicle during a traffic stop to provide identifying information verbally.

History

Under A.R.S. § 28-1595 it is a class 2 misdemeanor for a driver to refuse to provide a driver's license or identifying information to a peace officer during a traffic stop. Likewise, it is a class 2 misdemeanor for a passenger to refuse to provide identification when an officer has reasonable cause to believe that the passenger has committed a violation of the traffic code.

Provisions

1.   Permits a passenger in a vehicle during a traffic stop to provide evidence of identity verbally. (Sec. 1)

2.   Specifies that the passenger's verbal identification must include:

a.   full name;

b.   date of birth; and

c. residential address, if applicable. (Sec. 1)
