SPONSOR: Kavanagh |
PREPARED BY: Trevor Malzewski |
STATUS: Senate Engrossed |
SB 1332 would require the Auditor General to work with an independent transportation research entity to conduct a comprehensive feasibility review comparing light rail to other modes of transit, including autonomous vehicles, bus rapid transit, vans, and shuttles. The study would evaluate light rail based off various factors including capital and operating costs, environmental impact, economic benefits, and provide a recommendation of whether future state participation in light rail expansion is warranted.
Estimated Impact
Based on input received from the Auditor General, we estimate that the bill will result in a one-time cost to conduct the feasibility study between $900,000 and $1.5 million.
