Description

The introduced version of HB 2344 would require the State Treasurer to manage the Local Government Investment Pool (LGIP) and would allow the Treasurer to contract with a third party for the management of the LGIP only as a contingency.

Estimated Impact

We estimate that the bill would not generate a fiscal impact.

Analysis

Our estimate assumes the following:

1) The Treasurer already manages the LGIP and will thus not realize additional costs if it continues to do so, as required by the bill.

2) The Treasurer currently holds a contingency contract with a third-party bank to manage the fund in the event of a disaster.
