A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
supporting the county sheriffs of arizona.
(TEXT OF BILL BEGINS ON NEXT PAGE)
Whereas, the county sheriffs of this state and their deputies put their lives in danger each day to ensure the safety of every citizen of Arizona and to uphold the rights and freedoms of the Arizona and United States Constitutions; and
Whereas, sheriffs are the top law enforcement officers of their respective counties, serving and protecting every county in Arizona; and
Whereas, sheriffs and their staff continually face new and evolving issues that plague Arizona, such as the drug trafficking of fentanyl across our southern border, drug cartels, human trafficking, false or misleading information that erodes public trust in law enforcement, and a lack of support from the local communities they have sworn to protect and serve; and
Whereas, county sheriffs are the highest organic law enforcement authority, deriving their power as elected officials directly from the people they serve, and they are the last constitutional officers standing in the face of federal and state overreach.
Therefore
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of Arizona, the Senate concurring:
That the Members of the Legislature:
1. Reaffirm their support of all county sheriffs in Arizona.
2. Recognize the supreme constitutional authority, derived from the people, of county sheriffs over their respective jurisdictions.
3. Encourage all Arizonans to support their county sheriffs and appreciate their service to our communities.
