A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
supporting local public school efforts to increase student physical activity and promote dietary guidelines.

Whereas, regular physical activity strengthens physical health, supports mental well-being and improves academic performance for students of all ages; and
Whereas, national health authorities recommend that children and adolescents engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day; and
Whereas, public schools influence lifelong habits by integrating movement, nutrition education and experiential learning into the school environment; and
Whereas, Arizona's agricultural community plays a vital role in food production, economic stability and education about where food originates; and
Whereas, exposure to farming, food preparation and healthy eating practices help students understand nutrition, sanitation and responsible food systems; and
Whereas, the United States Department of Health and Human Services published the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2025-2030, on January 7, 2026 to provide science-based guidance on healthy eating patterns.
Therefore
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of Arizona, the Senate concurring:
1. That the Members of the Legislature support efforts by public schools in this state to ensure that each student in kindergarten programs and grades one through twelve participate, if able, in a minimum of 60 minutes of physical activity each school day through physical education, recess, classroom movement, extracurricular activities or other appropriate means.
2. That the Members of the Legislature support efforts by public schools in this state to prominently display the Dietary Guidelines for Americans in a location accessible to students and staff.
3. That the Members of the Legislature recognize the importance of local control and flexibility and support efforts by school districts and charter schools to implement these recommendations in ways that best serve each local education agency's students and communities.
