AN ACT
Amending title 41, chapter 14, article 5, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 41-2023; relating to early intervention programs.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Title 41, chapter 14, article 5, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 41-2023, to read:
41-2023. Language acquisition grant program
A. The language acquisition grant program is established to provide grants for and educate applicants with infants and toddlers who are deaf or hard of hearing on the language acquisition services and resources that are available in this state. The department shall administer the grant program and may adopt rules, policies and procedures to carry out the purposes of this section. An applicant shall submit an application for a grant on a form prescribed by the department.
B. The department shall contract with listening and spoken language providers in this state to provide listening and spoken language services to applicants with infants and toddlers who are deaf or hard of hearing.
C. Families that are referred to early intervention programs and services within the department shall also be referred to both of the following:
1. Qualified providers within the language acquisition grant program for listening and spoken language services and any other forms of language acquisition.
2. The arizona state schools for the deaf and the blind to learn american sign language and any other form of language acquisition.
