ARIZONA STATE SENATE

appropriation; waterline project; Ganado
Purpose
Appropriates $340,000 in FY 2026 from the state General Fund (state GF) to the Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA) to distribute to the Navajo Nation for the Ganado Waterline Pipeline Project.
Background
ADOA was established by the Legislature in 1973 to support the operation of state government. ADOA provides medical and other health benefits to state employees, processes claims when employees get injured, maintains office buildings for employees to work in, purchases goods and services needed to conduct business, provides information technology and telecommunication services for employees and provides other centralized support services for state agencies (ADOA).
The Director of ADOA must: 1) accept and disburse grants, gifts, donations, matching monies and direct payments from public or private agencies for the conduct of programs that are consistent with the overall purposes and objectives of ADOA; and 2) establish and maintain separate financial accounts as required by federal law or regulations (A.R.S. § 41-703).
The Ganado Chapter is an official certified chapter of the Navajo Nation located in Apache County and is part of the Fort Defiance Agency of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (Ganado).
S.B. 1579 appropriates $340,000 in FY 2026 from the state GF to ADOA.
Provisions
1. Appropriates $340,000 in FY 2026 from the state GF to ADOA for the design, planning and construction costs for the Ganado Waterline Pipeline Project.
2. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
