manufacturer plates; proof of contract
Purpose
Requires, when used for personal transportation, a record or other evidence of assignment to be present inside an unladen truck or passenger vehicle that is owned by a manufacturer (manufacturer vehicle).
Background
The authorized use of a manufacturer plate includes operating the vehicle as personal use transportation if it is assigned, on a full-time basis, to a manufacturer or a full-time employee or contracted person and a written record of the assignment is made (A.R.S. § 28-4539). The record must contain the date of the assignment, the vehicle's make, type, year, model and identification number and the name and address of any assignee (A.R.S. § 28-4542).
There is no anticipated fiscal impact to the state General Fund associated with this legislation.
Provisions
1. Requires the record of assignment, or other evidence of a contract and designation between the manufacturer and person, to be present inside a vehicle that uses a manufacturer plate for personal transportation.
2. Makes technical and conforming changes.
3. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
