ARIZONA STATE SENATE
Fifty-Seventh Legislature, First Regular Session

Purpose
Allows the use of volunteer retired police officers to maintain a visible police presence at a construction site on a road, street or highway.
Background
Warning signs, signals, markers and barricades that
comply with the specifications of the Arizona Department of Transportation's
Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devises must be posted and maintained by a
person, contractor or political subdivision performing work on a road, street
or highway until the work is complete or the governing body authorizes removal
(A.R.S.
§§ 28-641
and 28-650).
There is no anticipated fiscal impact to the state General Fund associated with this legislation.
Provisions
1. Allows a person, contractor or political subdivision that is performing work on a road, street or highway to use volunteer retired police officers to maintain a visible police presence.
2. Makes technical and conforming changes.
3. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
