HCM2014: corporation commission; reliable energy

Overview

The Legislature urges the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) to ensuring reliable and affordable energy generation.

History

The ACC is responsible for ensuring safe, reliable and affordable utility services including water, electricity, telephone and natural gas (Corporation Commission). The ACC is permitted to supervise and regulate every public service corporation in the state and do all things necessary and convenient in the exercise of that power and jurisdiction (A.R.S. § 40-202).

Provisions

1.   States the Legislature's support for the ACC to:

a)   ensure the Arizona electric grid is powered by affordable and reliable energy generation;

b)   direct regulated utilities to revise, update and resubmit their most recent integrated resource plans to meet certain criteria; and

c) support the current federal administration and its policies regarding energy generation. (Sec. 1)

2.   Directs the Arizona Secretary of State to transmit copies of this memorial to the Chairperson and each Commissioner of the ACC. (Sec. 1)
