Overview

Appropriates $2,090,000 from the state General Fund (GF) in FY 2026 to the Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA) for the Taylor-Snowflake Fire and Medical Department (Department) in specified amounts.

History

The Department's mission is to serve as a unified department, through the professional delivery of fire services and compassionate emergency medical care, with a commitment to community involvement. The Department staffs a full-time 24/7 fire and emergency medical service crew out of the stations in Snowflake and Taylor, Arizona. In 2023, the Department responded to:

1)   1.560 medical emergencies;

2)   83 motor vehicle accident emergencies;

3)   162 fire, HazMat & rescue emergencies; and

4)   337 public service calls and interfacility transfers (Taylor-Snowflake).

Provisions

1.   Appropriates $2,090,000 from the state GF in FY 2026 to ADOA for the Department for the following purposes and amounts:

a)   $350,000 to renovate the old fire department building and purchase equipment to convert the building to a public safety fitness facility for firefighters and law enforcement personnel;

b)   $240,000 to purchase and install station altering equipment, including associated communication hardware and software, for fire stations;

c) $300,000 to purchase a type 2 tactical water tender for wildland firefighters;

d)   $700,000 to purchase a type 3 fire engine for wildland firefighters; and

e)   $500,000 to purchase a structure for fire and emergency medical response in the area east of Snowflake. (Sec. 1)
