SENATE BILL 1285

 

 

 

 

AN ACT

 

appropriating monies to the Arizona department of forestry and fire management and to the arizona trail fund.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1. Appropriation; Arizona department of forestry and fire management; wildfire readiness and response grants

A. The sum of $12,500,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2025-2026 to the Arizona department of forestry and fire management to award grants pursuant to title 41, chapter 24, Arizona Revised Statutes, to fire districts for wildfire readiness and response.

B. The department shall allocate the monies appropriated in subsection A of this section as follows:

1. The monies shall be allocated equally to each of the five fire management districts designated by the department.

2. The monies may be awarded only to fire districts that are currently designated by the department as fire cooperators.

3. The monies may be used only by grant awardees to purchase type 3 fire engines, type 6 fire engines and tactical water tenders.

Sec. 2. Appropriation; Arizona trail fund; exemption

A. The sum of $250,000 is appropriated from the state General Fund in fiscal year 2025-2026 to the Arizona trail fund established by section 41-511.15, Arizona Revised Statutes.

B. The appropriation made in subsection A of this section is exempt from the provisions of section 35-190, Arizona Revised Statutes, relating to lapsing of appropriations.
