A Resolution

on the death of amy sue bhola.

Amy Sue Bhola, a dear friend to many in the greater Tucson community, passed away on March 28, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Passionate about public education, Amy earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in education. She spent 11 years as a middle school math and science teacher in three school districts. Over the last 18 years, Catalina Foothills School District in Tucson benefited tremendously from her experience and knowledge as a volunteer leader in the classroom, on the Family Faculty Organizations and on the Catalina Foothills School District Governing Board of Directors, a position she held since being elected in 2014. The initiatives closest to her heart centered on supporting students and teachers, and she gave tirelessly of her time, energy and efforts to improve the quality of public education in this state.

After moving to Tucson in 1998, Amy became an active member of the Junior League and served in a variety of roles, including Membership Director, Fund Development Director, Community Service Director and President. Amy led this worthwhile organization through her exceptional display of encouragement, love and friendship. Additionally, Amy volunteered with Chi Omega Fraternity, both locally and nationally, and was a member of the Silver & Turquoise Board of Hostesses, a 70-year-old organization created to celebrate Tucson's rich culture and heritage.

In November 2021, Amy was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an incurable form of cancer. Despite the gravity of her diagnosis, she remained brave and showed great courage in the face of many obstacles. Amy was able to participate in a drug trial during her treatment, and the information gathered from her data and response to the drug will be available to help others in the future.

A beloved wife, mother and friend, Amy is survived by her husband, Khush, her two children, Lily and Mason, and her many friends and peers in the Tucson community. As they mourn the loss of their wife, mother and friend, they will carry on Amy's exceptional legacy of love and community service.

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of Arizona:

That the Members of the House of Representatives express their sincere regret at the death of Amy Sue Bhola and extend their deepest condolences to her family and many friends.
