An Act

 

appropriating monies to yuma/la paz community college district.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1. Appropriations; Yuma/La Paz community college district; exemption

A. The following sums are appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2024-2025 to the Yuma/La Paz community college district for the following purposes:

1. $3,000,000 to modernize the fire academy program to serve the communities of San Luis, Somerton and Parker.

2. $2,000,000 to create a hydrogen fuel, electric vehicle and hybrid curriculum for automotive education.

3. $1,500,000 to start a commercial driver's license program to support the Marine Corps air station Yuma and the Yuma proving grounds.

4. $2,250,000 to establish a new heating, ventilation and air conditioning skills training program for incarcerated individuals.

5. $500,000 to support apprenticeship programs in targeted industries facing skilled worker shortages.

B. The appropriations made in subsection A of this section are exempt from the provisions of section 35-190, Arizona Revised Statutes, relating to lapsing of appropriations.
