Overview
Continues the Governor's Office on Tribal Relations (GOTR) for four years.
History
GOTR was established in 1953 as the Commission of Indian Affairs for the purpose of considering and studying conditions among the Indians residing within the State of Arizona. In 2016, the Commission was renamed to GOTR with the charge to assist and support tribal communities and nations within the state and to enhance government-to-government relations between the 22 tribal nations within the boundaries of Arizona.
The House Government Committee of Reference met on January 10, 2024, to hear a sunset review on GOTR. The House Government Committee of Reference recommended that GOTR be continued for four years.
