Overview

Restricts this state or a city, town, county or political subdivision of this state from establishing any vehicle miles of travel reduction goals in developing any transportation or land use project and from imposing a fee or tax based on vehicle mileage.

History

A travel reduction plan is a written report outlining travel reduction measures. Vehicle Miles Traveled is the number of miles traveled by a motor vehicle for commute trips.

A mile traveled by a reduced emission vehicle is counted as less than a full vehicle mile traveled for travel reduction plan purposes (A.R.S. § 49-581).

(Sec. 1)

2.   Declares that this state or a city, town, county or political subdivision of this state may not track or maintain a record of a person's vehicle miles of travel by recording the odometer reading on the person's vehicle through the use of traffic or other cameras that track a person's movement or using third-party data or any other means. (Sec. 1)

3.   Prohibits this state or a city, town, county or political subdivision of this state from imposing or collecting any mileage fee or a tax based on vehicle miles traveled by an individual in a motor vehicle. (Sec. 1)
