Overview

Amends the Arizona Constitution by modifying the qualifications of a member of the Arizona Legislature. 

History

Currently, a member of the legislature has the following qualifications:

1)   He is a citizen of the United States at the time of his election;

2)   He is 25 years of age; and

3)   He has been a resident of Arizona for at least three years and of the county from which he is elected for at least one year before his election (Article IV, Part 2, Section 2, Constitution of Arizona).

Provisions

1.   ☐ Prop 105 (45 votes)	     ☐ Prop 108 (40 votes)      ☐ Emergency (40 votes)	☐ Fiscal NoteAmends the Arizona Constitution by altering the qualifications of the members of the legislature in the following manner:

a)   Lowers the qualification age to 18 at the time of election;

b)   Requires the member to have been a resident of Arizona for at least three consecutive years at the time of election; and

c)   Requires the member to have been a resident of the district for one consecutive year at the time of election. (Sec. 1)

2.   Requires the Secretary of State to Submit this measure to the voters at the next general election. (Sec. 1)
