HB 2036: dental board; rules; assistance; repeal

Overview

Repeals statute that requires the Arizona State Board of Examiners (Board) to adopt rules that provide a method for them to receive assistance and advice on matters relating to the regulation of dental hygienists, denturists and business entities providing dental services.

History

The Board regulates and licenses dental professionals, including dentists, dental hygienists, dental consultants, dental therapists and denturists. Additionally, the Board reviews complaints against licensees and business entities, conducts investigations and is authorized to take disciplinary action for violations of state laws relating to the profession (A.R.S. §§ 32-1201 through 32-1299.26).

Currently, the Board must adopt rules that provide a method for them to receive assistance and advice from licensed dental business entities, dental hygienists and denturists on the following matters:

1)   regulation of dental business entities;

2)   regulation of dental hygienists; and

3)   regulation relating to discipline, certification and approval of examinations for denturists (A.R.S. §§ 32-1213, 32-1282 and 32-1295).

Provisions

1.   Repeals the requirement that the Board must adopt rules that provide a method for them to receive assistance and advice of:

a)   business entities in all matters relating to licensed dental business regulations;

b)   dental hygienists in all matters relating to dental hygienist regulations; and
