A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

 

proposing an amendment to the constitution of arizona; amending article XI, section 6, constitution of arizona; relating to education.

Be it resolved by the Senate of the State of Arizona, the House of Representatives concurring:

1. Article XI, section 6, Constitution of Arizona, is proposed to be amended as follows if approved by the voters and on proclamation of the Governor:

START_STATUTE6. Admission of students of both sexes to state educational institutions; tuition; common school system

Section 6. The university universities and all other state educational institutions shall be open to students of both sexes, and the instruction furnished shall be as nearly free as possible. The legislature shall provide for a system of common schools by which a free school shall be established and maintained in every school district for at least six months in each year, which school shall be open to all pupils between the ages of six and twenty-one years. 2. The Secretary of State shall submit this proposition to the voters at the next general election as provided by article XXI, Constitution of Arizona.
