AN ACT

 

Amending title 41, chapter 4, article 7, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 41-794; relating to electric vehicles.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1. Title 41, chapter 4, article 7, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 41-794, to read:

START_STATUTE41-794. Zero emission vehicle plan; definition

A. In coordination with the department of environmental quality and the department of administration, the department of transportation shall develop a zero emission vehicle plan designed to:

1. Increase the number of registered zero emission vehicles in this state to at least one hundred thousand by 2028.

2. Help establish interstate and intrastate zero emission vehicle corridors.

3. Coordinate and increase the installation of zero emission VEHICLE infrastructure.

4. Where appropriate, incorporate additional best practices for increasing zero emission vehicle adoption.

B. Within six months after the effective date of this section, the department of transportation shall submit a draft of the zero emission vehicle plan to the governor, the president of the senate and the speaker of the house of representatives.

C. For the purposes of this section, "Zero emission VEHICLE" means a pure battery electric vehicle or a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle with a battery range that is sufficient to meet the VEHICLE'S regular mileage between charges. END_STATUTE
