AN ACT

amending Title 15, chapter 5, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 15-509; relating to school employees.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1. Title 15, chapter 5, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 15-509, to read:

START_STATUTE15-509. School employees and officers; student sex or gender pronouns; prohibitions

A public school may not:

1. Require a school superintendent, principal or teacher or another officer or employee of a public school to use a sex or gender pronoun in reference to a student other than the sex or gender pronoun that corresponds to the sex listed on that student's birth certificate.

2. Penalize a school superintendent, principal or teacher or another officer or employee of a public school for refusing to use a sex or gender pronoun in reference to a student other than the sex or gender pronoun that corresponds to the sex listed on that student's birth certificate. END_STATUTE
