COVID-19 vaccinations; transparency
Purpose
Asserts that Members of the Legislature support transparency in COVID-19 vaccination information, consider deaths associated with COVID-19 to be tragic and cause for mourning, and agree with President Joe Biden that there is no federal solution to the pandemic and that health policy belongs to the states.
Background
On March 11, 2020 the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a global pandemic due to outbreak of a novel coronavirus disease known as COVID-19 (WHO). COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus that may cause infected individuals to experience mild, moderate or severe symptoms of respiratory illness (WHO).
There is no anticipated fiscal impact to the state General Fund associated with this legislation.
Provisions
1. Asserts that Members of the Legislature:
a) support transparency in COVID-19 vaccination information;
b) consider every Arizonan who has died from and with COVID-19, including all life-threatening diseases, a tragedy to be taken seriously and a reason for mourning; and
c) agree with President Joe Biden when he stated that, "There is no federal solution. This gets solved at a state level," when referring to COVID-19 and that health policy belongs to the states.
2. Directs the Secretary of State to transmit a copy of the resolution to the President of the U.S. Senate, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, each Member of Congress from Arizona and each Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives of other state legislatures.
