ARIZONA STATE SENATE

school board associations; membership; payment
Purpose
Prohibits a school district from using tax monies to pay for membership in a state or national school board association.
Background
Statute allows a school district governing board to annually budget and spend monies for membership in an association of school districts within Arizona. A school district board may not spend monies for membership in an association that attempts to influence the outcome of an election (A.R.S. §§ 15-342 and 15-511).
There is no anticipated fiscal impact to the state General Fund associated with this legislation.
Provisions
1. Prohibits a school district from using tax monies to pay for membership in a state or national school board association.
2. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
