Overview

Repeals statute that states current or former members of the United States (U.S.) armed forces who meet eligibility criteria are ineligible for a tuition waiver scholarship (TWS) if the person is convicted of a felony. 

History

Statute currently states that an individual who meets the below eligibility requirements are ineligible for a TWS if that person is convicted of a felony:

1)   A person who is a member or former member of the U.S. armed forces;

2)   A person who received a purple heart citation and whose disability rating determined by the U.S. Department of Veterans' Affairs (VA) is 50 percent or more; and

3)   Was a resident of Arizona or was stationed in Arizona at the time of the injury that resulted in the purple heart citation.
