Overview
Permits Purple Heart recipients to receive discounted hunting licenses and limits the discount on hunting licenses for disabled veterans.
History
Arizona's laws relating to wildlife are administered by the Arizona Game and Fish Department whose control is vested in the Game and Fish Commission (Commission) (A.R.S. § 17-201). Pursuant to A.R.S. § 17-331, a person may not take any wildlife in Arizona without a valid license or a Commission-approved proof of purchase.
The Commission may reduce the fees for licenses, or issue complimentary licenses, to qualifying individuals. Statute currently allows discounted license fees for residents who are: 1) disabled veterans with less than a 100% disability; 2) Boy Scouts with the rank of Eagle; or 3) Girl Scouts with the Gold Award (A.R.S. § 17-333).
Provisions
1. Allows the Commission to reduce the fees for licenses by 50% for a person who is: a) a veteran; b) a Purple Heart recipient; and c) has resided in Arizona for at least one year. (Sec. 1)
2. Limits the fee reduction for a resident disabled veteran to no more than 25%. (Sec. 1)
3. Makes technical and conforming changes. (Sec. 1)
