Overview

Appropriates $1,500,000 from the state General Fund (GF) in FY 2023 to the Department of Economic Security (DES) to distribute to the Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs).

History

The federal Older Americans Act of 1965 established AAAs, which are public or private nonprofit organizations for an area within the state (42 U.S. Code § 3025). DES has designated eight regions of Arizona, each with its own AAA (DES website).

Laws 2019, Ch. 270 established the Family Caregiver Grant Program, which defined a care coordinator and case manager as a person who provides services, including home and community-based services through the AAAs (A.R.S. 46-341).
