The House Engrossed version of HB 2123 creates the Adult Workforce Diploma Program which assists individuals in earning a high school diploma and developing critical employability and career and technical skills.
The Senate adopted a strike-everything amendment that does the following:
Overview
Continues the Arizona Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers (Board) until March 31, 2023. Transfers Board responsibilities to, and requires, beginning April 1, 2023, certain individuals to register with, a funeral services regulating authority of Arizona.
History
The Board regulates the funeral industry by: 1) issuing licenses and registrations to funeral directors, embalmers, cremationists, funeral establishments and crematories; 2) conducting inspections of funeral establishments and crematories; and 3) investigating and adjudicating complaints against licensed or registered individuals and businesses. The Board consists of seven Governor-appointed members who serve staggered, four-year terms (Title 32, Chapter 12, A.R.S.).
Provisions
1. Continues the Board, retroactive to July 1, 2022, until March 31, 2023. (Sec. 2, 3, 6)
2. Repeals the Board on July 1, 2024. (Sec. 3)
3. Directs Legislative Council staff to prepare proposed conforming legislation for consideration in the Fifty-sixth Legislature, First Regular Session. (Sec. 4)
4. Contains a purpose statement. (Sec. 5)
5. Declares the Legislature's intent to continue the Board, through March 31, 2023, to allow for additional time to ensure proper legislative consideration and transference of responsibilities for the purposes of public health and safety. (Sec. 5)
6. Modifies pertinent definitions relating to the Board. (Sec. 1)
