SENATE AMENDMENTS TO S.B. 1036

Page 1, between lines 24 and 25, insert:
"C. The department of education shall establish a process for any person to file a complaint with the department for any violation of subsection A, paragraph 3 or 4 of this section. After receiving a complaint, the department shall notify the school district superintendent or the principal of the charter school and the school district governing board or charter school governing body of the school district or charter school against which the complaint was filed. The school district or charter school shall correct the violation within thirty days after being notified of the complaint under this subsection and shall notify the department once the violation has been corrected. If the school district or charter school does not correct the violation within thirty days after being notified of the complaint under this subsection, the department shall notify the attorney general for the purposes of subsection D of this section. If the school district or charter school corrects the violation and the department receives a subsequent complaint within the same school year of the same violation at the same school and in the same classroom or, if applicable, outside of the same school building, the department shall notify the attorney general for the purposes of subsection D of this section."
