Page 1, between lines 10 and 11, insert:

"Sec. 3. State department of corrections; implementation of auditor general recommendations; auditor general follow-up review and report; legislative assessment; delayed repeal

A. The state department of corrections shall implement recommendations one through eight in the auditor general's report 21-118 related to the state department of corrections' treatment programs and implement recommendations one and two in the auditor general's report 21-119 related to the state department of corrections' transition program.

B. The auditor general shall conduct a follow-up review thirty-six months after the effective date of this section to determine if the state department of corrections has complied with subsection A of this section. The auditor general shall issue a report of the results of the follow-up review to the chairpersons of the joint legislative audit committee and the members of the house of representatives judiciary committee and senate judiciary committee, or their successor committees.

C. The legislature may assess whether the state department of corrections complied with subsection A of this section. The legislature may request that the auditor general conduct an additional performance audit of the state department of corrections and may amend the termination date of the state department of corrections.

D. This section is repealed from and after December 31, 2025."
