An Act

 

amending title 15, chapter 3, article 6, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 15-398; relating to career technical education.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1. Title 15, chapter 3, article 6, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 15-398, to read:

START_STATUTE15-398. Career technical education statewide articulation agreement; articulated credit; program; steering committee; definition

A. The superintendent of public instruction and the community college districts shall enter into a career technical education statewide articulation agreement.  The agreement must establish a program for credit articulation between secondary and postsecondary education for career technical education district programs offered in this state.  To receive career technical education statewide articulated credit, a secondary student shall both:

1. Meet all the requirements for high school graduation as prescribed by the state board of education.

2. Complete the sequence of courses for at least one career technical education district program.

B. The superintendent of public instruction, the community college districts and the career technical education districts shall agree to work together to maintain an active career technical education statewide articulation steering committee to award career technical education articulated credit.  The career technical education statewide articulation steering committee shall maintain, develop and promote the program for credit articulation between secondary and postsecondary education.

C. For the purposes of this section, "community college district" means a district as defined in section 15-1401.END_STATUTE
