appropriation; water supply study
Purpose
Appropriates $5,000,000 from the state General Fund (state GF) in FY 2022 to the Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) to study potential sources of water for use in Arizona.
Background
Current statute designates ADWR as the steward of Arizona's water future and charges ADWR with ensuring long-term, reliable water supplies to support the continued economic prosperity of Arizona. ADWR has various responsibilities related to groundwater regulation, surface water rights, state-wide water planning, dam safety and flood warning and providing support to other entities (A.R.S. Title 45, Chapter 1).
H.B. 2577 appropriates $5,000,000 from the state GF in FY 2022 to ADWR.
Provisions
1. Appropriates $5,000,000 from the state GF in FY 2022 to ADWR to study potential sources of water for use in Arizona.
2. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
