Overview
Outlines the requirements for a city or town publication of notices and ordinances.
History
Any notices of invitations for bids, election, laws, notices of letting contracts, ordinances and other notices of a public character issued by the governing body of a municipality must be published according to current statute (A.R.S. § 9-812).
When publication in a newspaper of a notice is authorized or directed by law, it must be in a newspaper of general circulation printed in English. If the number of times and the place of publication of the notice are not specified, the publication must follow the requirements outlined in statute (A.R.S. § 39-204).
Provisions
1. Stipulates that the publication of notices of a public character by the governing body of a city or town must be published in one of the following:
a) A newspaper that is published and printed within the city or town; or
b) A newspaper that is published and printed within the county in which the city or town is located within a greater circulation to the residents of the municipality. (Sec. 1)
2. Specifies that the publication in a newspaper applies to notices and resolutions that require newspaper publication under current statute relating to municipal improvement districts. (Sec. 1)
