Overview

Commends the courage of the United States (U.S.) Border Patrol and recognizes the role they play in safeguarding Arizona and the U.S.

History

Established in 1924, the U.S. Border Patrol currently serves to prevent terrorists and terrorists' weapons from entering the United States. The U.S. Border Patrol is a part of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, a component of the Department of Homeland Security. The U.S. Border Patrol monitors around 6,000 miles of Mexican and Canadian international land borders and 2,000 miles of coastal waters surrounding the Florida Peninsula and the island of Puerto Rico.

Provisions

1.   States that the Members of the Arizona Legislature commend the courage, dedication and sacrifice of the men and women of the U.S. Border Patrol and recognize the vital role they play in safeguarding Arizona and the United States.

2.   Requires the Arizona Secretary of State to transmit copies of this resolution to the President of the United States and each Congressional Member from Arizona.
